A special excursion tip is a trip by canoe from Grohnde downstream to Hamelin. This approx. 13 km long tour is also suitable for beginners. You can enjoy the wooded, slightly hilly and dreamy landscape without any industry worth mentioning. You should plan about 3 hours for the tour. If you prefer to paddle less and just let the sun drift on your face, you will need a little longer.
The tour is organised by Hameln Tourismus:

Grohnde is primarily known for its nuclear power plant, which has since been decommissioned, but it is an idyllic place with a number of sights, such as the former moated castle, Schloss Grohnde. Grohnde belongs to the municipality of Emmerthal. In summer, the Weser can be crossed by a yaw rope ferry, which can take up to 45 people. The Grohnder Fährhaus is well worth a stop. The traditional inn serves hearty vespers and home cooking at reasonable prices.
