Hameln is located southwest of Hanover about halfway between Herford in the west and Hildesheim in the east. The city is located in the center of the nature park Weserbergland Schaumburg-Hameln and is surrounded by parts of the Weserbergland in the west and Leinebergland in the east. Hameln is crossed by a section of the Upper Weser, into which the Hamel (from the east) and the Humme (from the west) flow into the city area.
