The best tips for successful Christmas parties

At successful Christmas parties the bosses show their team a special appreciation. After a busy year, the aim is also to enable employees and management to get to know each other better. Many people find that a nice Christmas party is important and makes everyday work easier. In any case, the Christmas party is the perfect occasion for the boss to thank the staff.

Many Christmas parties take place at Hotel Stadt Hameln and from these we derive our best tips for Christmas parties:

1. Vary the procedures and contents

“Same procedure as every year” doesn’t go down too well. Tradition in all its glory, but always the same procedure, the same location and possibly the same speech from the boss seem unloving and boring in the end. In the past, there was a nice roast goose dinner in the restaurant around the corner, but this year a Christmas tree felling (and decorating) together could be a great change. (Rubber boots to change and working gloves should be communicated as a tip beforehand). And after that it may be the popular roast goose again. But you could also organise a nice kale or burger meal (vegetarian food is also available, but see the next tip).

2. Also plan the specials, vegetarians do not like duck or carp

Unfortunately, we often only find out at the moment of serving that vegetarians or vegans are among the guests. A quick salad is always possible, but this is often not what the colleagues imagine. The kitchen team is happy to prepare for vegetarians or vegans, but this information should be provided in advance.

3. Choose a special motto

Of course “Christmas party” is already a motto. It determines the season, the decoration and the type of food and drink. But if your guests find it boring, then a colour motto (red-black party) or any other clothing motto could provide a few laughs. Example: Elegant! It is always exciting to see your colleagues in an unusual outfit.

4. Celebrate in corona times

One year of Corona is certainly no reason to miss the celebration altogether. On the contrary. After a year of home office, it is probably particularly important to get together in a relaxed atmosphere. In fact, this year it’s better for just the department to celebrate together than for the whole company to do so.

At Hotel Stadt Hameln our ideas and concepts for a safe Christmas party are important and are followed very closely:

Currently (as of 12 October 2020) the rule for celebrations in restaurants in Lower Saxony is as follows:

Party in a restaurant: 7-day incidence greater than 35
à A maximum of 50 people may celebrate or come together.

Party in a restaurant: 7-day incidence greater than 50
à A maximum of 25 people may celebrate or come together.

  • The aperitif takes place in the romantic inner courtyard. Perhaps with a fire bowl and certainly with plenty of fresh air and distance.
  • There is also plenty of space for the subsequent dinner. A maximum of 6 people sit at one table and whoever gets up has to wear a mouth and nose protector (just like our team).
  • And the tables are sufficiently separated from each other and of course we provide good ventilation.
  • Dancing is not allowed at the moment, so how about (if you want some entertainment) with a comedian. We are happy to help with the procurement.
